Windows 11 Native Tools Get New Designs Changes

Ahead of Windows 11 official launch, Microsoft has rolled out UI updates for native apps like Snipping Tool, Calculator, Mail and Calendar apps.

The fresh design changes include rounded corners for the apps and merging the Snipping tool and Snip & Sketch tools. These can be tried by Windows 10 users too, and updateable through Microsoft Store.

Design Changes to Windows 11 Native Apps

One of the primary interests of everyone about the Windows 11 is the new UI. The latest Windows OS from Microsoft carries a host of design changes to most sections of the OS, as per its Fluent Design plans.

These include Start Menu, Taskbar, Action Center, etc. Aside from these major parts, Microsoft is also caring about the icons and apps too. As seen in Windows 11 Build 22000.132, native apps like Snipping Tool, Calculator, Mail, and Calendar are getting UI refreshments.

Starting with Snipping Tool, Microsoft merged the Snip and Sketch tool with Snipping Tool in Windows 11 and set it as Snipping Tool. This can be launched by pressing Win + Shift + S keyboard shortcuts.snipping tool new windows 11

This will capture and save the screenshot to the Snipping Tool panel, with a host of basic editing features like annotations, cropping, drawing, etc. On opening, the new Snipping Tool will have various cropping options like Rectangular Snip, Freeform Snip, Windows Snip, and Fullscreen Snip.

Further, this revamped tool can automatically switch between Dark and Light themes based on the background OS. Apart from Snipping Tool, Microsoft made slight changes to Calculator, Mail, and Calander apps, which now have rounded corners.

And with Windows 11, all these can be updated through Microsoft Store directly, without needing to wait until the official Windows update as a whole. So while these are set in Windows 11, users running on the latest Windows 10 can get these updates soon.
