Windows 10: Your Phone and Cortana Got Better with New Features

Microsoft in its new app updates keeps Cortana alive and polishes Your Phone app with a new feature. As per reports, the Your Phone app in Windows 10 gets support for deleting photos in the phone from the user’s PC. And for Cortana, it’s able to search local files by voice commands.

Search Files Through Windows 10 Cortana

While we all thought Cortana is dying, Microsoft is inserting new support features to its digital voice assistant to be more useful. As Windows Latest reported, the latest update of Cortana his Microsoft Store has the “File Skill” feature. Under this, users can find open documents on their Windows 10 PCs.

The File Skill feature is distinguished between general users and enterprise users. In the case of general (individual) users, files with a clear author’s name, file name, and location will be retrieved by voice commands. While this is limited to search on local storage only, enterprise users get an extended support.

Business users can ask Cortana to search for files from not only their local drives but also from OneDrive cloud storage. This support will be available for PCs running on Windows 10 20H2 and later. On the other hand, Your Phone app gets new support too.

Deleting Photos from Your Phone App

Users can now delete photos on their connected phones through the Your Phone app. This feature was seen to be embedded in Your Phone app’s earlier builds but is now rolling out to everyone, even to non-Samsung users. This doesn’t need an app update, as it’s probably a server-side update from Microsoft.

Also, there could be an option to bulk delete the photos in your connected devices, which could be rolling out later.
