Windows 10 New Taskbar Widget With Latest News and Weather Starts Rolling Out

After trailing since January this year, Microsoft is rolling out the new Taskbar widget with News and Interests for Windows 10 users. This section includes quick information on the weather forecasts and news regarding various selected genres like news, stocks, sports, etc. Users get to choose their interests beforehand and let Microsoft AI arrange the relevant topics in trending.

Windows 10 New Taskbar Widget

As Microsoft is preparing for an overall design overhaul in Windows 10, it started rolling out the new Taskbar widget to let users taste the first pinch of change. Users who opted for April 2021 cumulative update preview can now see a new widget available in the left corner of the Taskbar, containing the latest News and Weather Stats.

This Taskbar widget is assumed to be introduced in the upcoming Windows 10 21H1 update, scheduled in May this year. But coming early is no bad, and even helpful for hyping users about the new revamped design changes. This section includes a feed of news, stocks, sports, and weather information.

Or, the user can choose to ignore the rest and check only the weather forecast updates. If going for everything, users will be asked to choose their interested topics while setting up initially and based on that they’ll be served news updates regularly. This Taskbar widget will be available in the next few weeks, for users running Windows 10 1909 and above.

Make sure you’ve updated to the April 2021 cumulative update preview, or wait until the major 21H1 update. This section isn’t mandatory though, so users can disable it in the settings. But having it enabled will get you news updates from over 4,500 sources, and be arranged accordingly by the Microsoft AI that learns your preferences regularly.
