Method 1: Enable or Disable the Chrome PDF Viewer

You can fix the issue by enabling or disabling the PDF viewer. This can be done on almost all operating systems like macOS, Windows, and Linux. Follow the steps to enable or disable the pdf viewer.

1. First, open your Chrome Browser and click on the three vertical dots at the top right corner of the screen.
2. From the drop-down menu, select Settings
3. Now, select the Privacy and Security option from the left-hand side menu
4. On the right side of the pane, select the Site Settings option
   
5. Next, select, Additional document settings and expand it
6. Look for PDF Documents and click on the arrow
   
7. Now, turn ON or OFF the slider option Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome.
   
8. Check the settings; if you have enabled the option, select a pdf document file, it will automatically be downloaded. But if you have disabled the option, then the file will be opened in a new tab.
